Evensong Service: accompanied by the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Chapel Choir (photo), and the Bevan Organ Scholar
Curated by Peter Drobac; features vocal chamber ensembles in a variety of sacred music from Eastern and Western liturgical traditions. The intent of this series is to present music usually sung in a liturgical or devotional context, not as part of a service, and not as a concert, but for quiet meditation, or simply to absorb and enjoy.
The times of William Byrd, one of England’s greatest composers, are very analogous to our own. He lived during a complex and politicised age, deftly balancing the demands of church and state, all the while composing music of great beauty. Join us as we examine the fascinating music of William Byrd, and why it remains so relevant to us today. Music Director Thomas Bell and Bevan Organ Scholar Peter Bayer.
The Trinity Bach Project: an ensemble of vocal and instrumental musicians that performs music of Bach and other, thematically-connected, composers.
A cherished College tradition stretching back more than 50 years, please join us for the traditional Service of Advent Lessons and Carols on the Second Sunday of Advent.
By candlelight, the Chapel Choir will sing traditional Advent carols, directed by Thomas Bell, and assisted by Peter Bayer, the Bevan organ scholar. The Rev’d Canon Andrea Budgey, Humphrys Chaplain, will officiate, joined by readers from the College community. The service will also be livestreamed for those unable to attend in person.
Before the service, in-person attendees are invited to a drop-in Advent Social in the Divinity Common Room from 3 pm to 4 pm. Please register using the link above as space is limited.
