Residence Admission Policy
Admission to residence at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ is governed by the Residence Admission Policy and Residence Agreement and is administered by the Office of the Dean of Students.

RESIDENCE ADMISSION POLICY FOR NEWLY ADMITTED STUDENTS
In order to maintain their space while living in residence, students must be enrolled in a minimum of 3.0 FCEs, with a minimum of 3 courses in each of the Fall and Winter semesters, or a comparable course load in the Faculty of Divinity.
Students who believe that they have additional information regarding their personal circumstances that may warrant an exemption from the course load requirement may apply for an exemption by completing the appropriate section of the residence application or if circumstances change post-application, by contacting the Office of the Dean of Students.
1. Newly Admitted First-Year Students: Faculty of Arts & Science
º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ aims to house, within its residences, as many Trinity students in the Faculty of Arts and Science who are eligible for the  as possible, and will allocate approximately half of its initial residence spaces to students in this category.
All residence applications for incoming students are directed through , an application managed by the office. You must have completed the University’s common residence application through StarRez by March 31, 2024, and have received and accepted an offer of admission to the University by June 1, 2024, in order to qualify for the For those admitted to º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ, you will be contacted in early June regarding the next steps in applying to live in residence at Trinity. Be sure to monitor the inbox of the email address that you used to initially apply to the University of Toronto, as this is where application information will be sent.
2. Newly Admitted Students: Faculty of Divinity
Newly admitted students in the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Faculty of Divinity who have never before lived in the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ residences are guaranteed a space in residence at the College, provided that they complete the residence application and all requirements by the residence application deadline for newly admitted students. All other Divinity students must apply for residence under the Divinity categories listed below. 3. Newly Admitted First-Entry Professional Faculty Students
Trinity reserves a limited number of spaces for students within first-entry professional faculties who are eligible for the . Interested and eligible first-entry professional faculty students should contact the Office of the Dean of Students for more information regarding the application procedure.
4. Newly Admitted Upper-Year Students - CEGEP or University/College Transfers
Trinity students within this category are generally not eligible for the University of Toronto Residence Guarantee for First-Year Applicants. Nevertheless, Trinity will strive to offer residence to as many of these students as possible. Students within this category should contact the Office of the Dean of Students for more information regarding the application procedure.
Students must meet all deadlines and deposit requirements in order to maintain their eligibility for residence.
RESIDENCE ADMISSION POLICY FOR UPPER-YEAR STUDENTS
º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ values the contribution of upper-year students to the residence community, and as a result, approximately half of initial residence spaces will be allocated to Trinity upper-year students in the Arts & Sciences and Divinity. Students may apply for residence as an upper-year student after first year, and will be allowed up to a maximum of five total years in the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ residences.
In order to be eligible for residence in any year following first year, students must be in good standing, as defined by the University, and have a minimum AGPA of 1.50+, as recorded on their transcript, on a minimum of 3.0 FCEs for the most recent Fall/Winter academic session.

How to Re-Apply to Residence as an Upper-Year Student: Quick Facts
Am I eligible?
- To be eligible for residence in any year following first year, students must be in good standing, as defined by the University, and have a minimum AGPA of 1.50+, as recorded on their transcript, on a minimum of 3.0 Full Course Equivalents (FCEs) for the most recent Fall/Winter academic session.
- All upper-year students are invited to apply for residence, regardless of whether they currently live in residence or not. Students may live in the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ residences for a maximum of 5 years throughout the course of their studies.
What does the application look like?
- No deposit is required with your residence application. Deposits will only be required in order to accept a residence offer.
- Residence spaces will be first allocated to students based on a lottery.
- Students who have not been allocated a space in residence through the residence lottery, will be randomly assigned to the upper-year waiting list.
- Students who have been offered a space in residence and those offered a space on the upper-year waiting list will be notified of their status in the process at the same time, in March/early April.
- Students who are not admitted to residence via the residence lottery have the opportunity to submit a Dean’s Discretionary Appeal, details below.
- The whole application process is completed online.
- The room request process will occur after you are admitted to residence, in April.

Trinity Arts & Science and Divinity Students Both Currently and Not Currently in Residence
All upper year student applicants who meet the application deadline will be entered into the residence lottery.
Students who are not admitted to residence via the residence lottery have the opportunity to submit a Dean’s Discretionary Appeal, details below.
First-Entry Professional Faculty Students Currently in Residence
Upper year, first-entry professional faculty students who are currently living in residence are eligible to apply for readmission.
First-Entry Professional Faculty Students Not Currently in Residence
Upper-year, first-entry professional faculty students, who do not currently live in residence, but who have lived in a º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ residence previously, are eligible to apply for readmission.
Dean’s Discretionary Category
º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ understands that some students who may require residence may not meet the minimum requirements, or be admissible under any of the above noted categories. Such students should submit a written Dean’s Discretionary Appeal, which will be reviewed by the Dean of Students and a space in residence may be offered at the discretion of the Dean.
